بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

WORD BY WORD
بِسۡمِbis'miIn (the) name
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِl-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful
TRANSLATION

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

|||
1

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

WORD BY WORD
ٱلۡحَمۡدُal-ḥamduAll praises and thanks
لِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allah
رَبِّrabbithe Lord
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnaof the universe
TRANSLATION

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds

|||
2

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Alrrahmani alrraheemi

WORD BY WORD
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِal-raḥmāniThe Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful
TRANSLATION

The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

|||
3

مَٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ

Maliki yawmi alddeeni

WORD BY WORD
مَٰلِكِmāliki(The) Master
يَوۡمِyawmi(of the) Day
ٱلدِّينِl-dīni(of the) Judgment
TRANSLATION

Sovereign of the Day of Recompense

4

إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ

Iyyaka naAAbudu waiyyaka nastaAAeenu

WORD BY WORD
إِيَّاكَiyyākaYou Alone
نَعۡبُدُnaʿbuduwe worship
وَإِيَّاكَwa-iyyākaand You Alone
نَسۡتَعِينُnastaʿīnuwe ask for help
TRANSLATION

It is You we worship and You we ask for help

5

ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ

Ihdina alssirata almustaqeema

WORD BY WORD
ٱهۡدِنَاih'dināGuide us
ٱلصِّرَٰطَl-ṣirāṭa(to) the path
ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَl-mus'taqīmathe straight
TRANSLATION

Guide us to the straight path

|||
6

صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

Sirata allatheena anAAamta AAalayhim ghayri almaghdoobi AAalayhim wala alddalleena

WORD BY WORD
صِرَٰطَṣirāṭa(The) path
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those
أَنۡعَمۡتَanʿamtaYou have bestowed (Your) Favors
عَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimon them
غَيۡرِghayrinot (of)
ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِl-maghḍūbithose who earned (Your) wrath
عَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimon themselves
وَلَاwalāand not
ٱلضَّآلِّينَl-ḍālīna(of) those who go astray
TRANSLATION

The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray
