تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبٖ وَتَبَّ

Tabbat yada abee lahabin watabba

TRANSLATION

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he

مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

Ma aghna AAanhu maluhu wama kasaba

مَآNot
أَغۡنَىٰaghnā(will) avail
عَنۡهُʿanhuhim
مَالُهُۥmāluhuhis wealth
وَمَاwamāand what
كَسَبَkasabahe earned
TRANSLATION

His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained

2

سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارٗا ذَاتَ لَهَبٖ

Sayasla naran thata lahabin

WORD BY WORD
سَيَصۡلَىٰsayaṣlāHe will be burnt
نَارٗاnāran(in) a Fire
ذَاتَdhātaof
لَهَبٖlahabinBlazing Flames
TRANSLATION

He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ

Waimraatuhu hammalata alhatabi

WORD BY WORD
وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥwa-im'ra-atuhuAnd his wife
حَمَّالَةَḥammālata(the) carrier
ٱلۡحَطَبِl-ḥaṭabi(of) firewood
TRANSLATION

And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلٞ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ

Fee jeediha hablun min masadin

WORD BY WORD
فِيIn
جِيدِهَاjīdihāher neck
حَبۡلٞḥablun(will be) a rope
مِّنminof
مَّسَدِۭmasadinpalm-fiber
TRANSLATION

Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber
