ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَلَمۡ يَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ عِوَجَاۜ

Alhamdu lillahi allathee anzala AAala AAabdihi alkitaba walam yajAAal lahu AAiwajan

WORD BY WORD
ٱلۡحَمۡدُal-ḥamduAll Praise
لِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِيٓalladhīthe One Who
أَنزَلَanzala(has) revealed
عَلَىٰʿalāto
عَبۡدِهِʿabdihiHis slave
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَl-kitābathe Book
وَلَمۡwalamand not
يَجۡعَلyajʿal(has) made
لَّهُۥlahuin it
عِوَجَاۜʿiwajāany crookedness
TRANSLATION

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance

|||
1

قَيِّمٗا لِّيُنذِرَ بَأۡسٗا شَدِيدٗا مِّن لَّدُنۡهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرًا حَسَنٗا

Qayyiman liyunthira basan shadeedan min ladunhu wayubashshira almumineena allatheena yaAAmaloona alssalihati anna lahum ajran hasanan

WORD BY WORD
قَيِّمٗاqayyimanStraight
لِّيُنذِرَliyundhirato warn
بَأۡسٗاbasan(of) a punishment
شَدِيدٗاshadīdansevere
مِّنminfrom
لَّدُنۡهُladun'hunear Him
وَيُبَشِّرَwayubashiraand give glad tidings
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(to) the believers
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يَعۡمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deeds
أَنَّannathat
لَهُمۡlahumfor them
أَجۡرًاajran(is) a good reward
حَسَنٗاḥasanan(is) a good reward
TRANSLATION

[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward

|||
2

مَّـٰكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدٗا

Makitheena feehi abadan

WORD BY WORD
مَّـٰكِثِينَmākithīna(They will) abide
فِيهِfīhiin it
أَبَدٗاabadanforever
TRANSLATION

In which they will remain forever

|||
3

وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدٗا

Wayunthira allatheena qaloo ittakhatha Allahu waladan

WORD BY WORD
وَيُنذِرَwayundhiraAnd to warn
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
قَالُواْqālūsay
ٱتَّخَذَittakhadhaAllah has taken
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has taken
وَلَدٗاwaladana son
TRANSLATION

And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son

|||
4

مَّا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٖ وَلَا لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡۚ كَبُرَتۡ كَلِمَةٗ تَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ أَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۚ إِن يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبٗا

Ma lahum bihi min AAilmin wala liabaihim kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwahihim in yaqooloona illa kathiban

WORD BY WORD
مَّاNot
لَهُمlahumthey have
بِهِۦbihiabout it
مِنۡminany
عِلۡمٖʿil'minknowledge
وَلَاwalāand not
لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡۚliābāihimtheir forefathers
كَبُرَتۡkaburatGrave (is)
كَلِمَةٗkalimatanthe word
تَخۡرُجُtakhruju(that) comes out
مِنۡminof
أَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۚafwāhihimtheir mouths
إِنinNot
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey say
إِلَّاillāexcept
كَذِبٗاkadhibana lie
TRANSLATION

They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie

|||
5

فَلَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٞ نَّفۡسَكَ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ إِن لَّمۡ يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا

FalaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka AAala atharihim in lam yuminoo bihatha alhadeethi asafan

WORD BY WORD
فَلَعَلَّكَfalaʿallakaThen perhaps you would (be)
بَٰخِعٞbākhiʿunthe one who kills
نَّفۡسَكَnafsakayourself
عَلَىٰٓʿalāover
ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡāthārihimtheir footsteps
إِنinif
لَّمۡlamnot
يُؤۡمِنُواْyu'minūthey believe
بِهَٰذَاbihādhāin this
ٱلۡحَدِيثِl-ḥadīthi[the] narration
أَسَفًاasafan(in) grief
TRANSLATION

Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow

|||
6

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ زِينَةٗ لَّهَا لِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡ أَيُّهُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗا

Inna jaAAalna ma AAala alardi zeenatan laha linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu AAamalan

WORD BY WORD
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, We
جَعَلۡنَاjaʿalnāWe have made
مَاwhat
عَلَىʿalā(is) on
ٱلۡأَرۡضِl-arḍithe earth
زِينَةٗzīnatanadornment
لَّهَاlahāfor it
لِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡlinabluwahumthat We may test [them]
أَيُّهُمۡayyuhumwhich of them
أَحۡسَنُaḥsanu(is) best
عَمَلٗاʿamalan(in) deed
TRANSLATION

Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed

|||
7

وَإِنَّا لَجَٰعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيۡهَا صَعِيدٗا جُرُزًا

Wainna lajaAAiloona ma AAalayha saAAeedan juruzan

WORD BY WORD
وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, We
لَجَٰعِلُونَlajāʿilūna(will) surely make
مَاwhat
عَلَيۡهَاʿalayhā(is) on it
صَعِيدٗاṣaʿīdansoil
جُرُزًاjuruzanbarren
TRANSLATION

And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground

|||
8

أَمۡ حَسِبۡتَ أَنَّ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡكَهۡفِ وَٱلرَّقِيمِ كَانُواْ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا عَجَبًا

Am hasibta anna ashaba alkahfi waalrraqeemi kanoo min ayatina AAajaban

WORD BY WORD
أَمۡamOr
حَسِبۡتَḥasib'tahave you thought
أَنَّannathat
أَصۡحَٰبَaṣḥāba(the) companions
ٱلۡكَهۡفِl-kahfi(of) the cave
وَٱلرَّقِيمِwal-raqīmiand the inscription
كَانُواْkānūwere
مِنۡminamong
ءَايَٰتِنَاāyātināOur Signs
عَجَبًاʿajabana wonder
TRANSLATION

Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder

|||
9

إِذۡ أَوَى ٱلۡفِتۡيَةُ إِلَى ٱلۡكَهۡفِ فَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحۡمَةٗ وَهَيِّئۡ لَنَا مِنۡ أَمۡرِنَا رَشَدٗا

Ith awa alfityatu ila alkahfi faqaloo rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wahayyi lana min amrina rashadan

WORD BY WORD
إِذۡidhWhen
أَوَىawāretreated
ٱلۡفِتۡيَةُl-fit'yatuthe youths
إِلَىilāto
ٱلۡكَهۡفِl-kahfithe cave
فَقَالُواْfaqālūand they said
رَبَّنَآrabbanāOur Lord
ءَاتِنَاātināGrant us
مِنminfrom
لَّدُنكَladunkaYourself
رَحۡمَةٗraḥmatanMercy
وَهَيِّئۡwahayyiand facilitate
لَنَاlanāfor us
مِنۡmin[from]
أَمۡرِنَاamrināour affair
رَشَدٗاrashadan(in the) right way
TRANSLATION

[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance

|||
10

فَضَرَبۡنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ فِي ٱلۡكَهۡفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدٗا

Fadarabna AAala athanihim fee alkahfi sineena AAadadan

WORD BY WORD
فَضَرَبۡنَاfaḍarabnāSo We cast
عَلَىٰٓʿalāover
ءَاذَانِهِمۡādhānihimtheir ears
فِيin
ٱلۡكَهۡفِl-kahfithe cave
سِنِينَsinīnayears
عَدَدٗاʿadadana number
TRANSLATION

So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years

|||
11

ثُمَّ بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡ لِنَعۡلَمَ أَيُّ ٱلۡحِزۡبَيۡنِ أَحۡصَىٰ لِمَا لَبِثُوٓاْ أَمَدٗا

Thumma baAAathnahum linaAAlama ayyu alhizbayni ahsa lima labithoo amadan

WORD BY WORD
ثُمَّthummaThen
بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡbaʿathnāhumWe raised them up
لِنَعۡلَمَlinaʿlamathat We make evident
أَيُّayyuwhich
ٱلۡحِزۡبَيۡنِl-ḥiz'bayni(of) the two parties
أَحۡصَىٰaḥṣābest calculated
لِمَاlimāfor what
لَبِثُوٓاْlabithū(they had) remained
أَمَدٗاamadan(in) time
TRANSLATION

Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time

|||
12

نَّحۡنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيۡكَ نَبَأَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ إِنَّهُمۡ فِتۡيَةٌ ءَامَنُواْ بِرَبِّهِمۡ وَزِدۡنَٰهُمۡ هُدٗى

Nahnu naqussu AAalayka nabaahum bialhaqqi innahum fityatun amanoo birabbihim wazidnahum hudan

WORD BY WORD
نَّحۡنُnaḥnuWe
نَقُصُّnaquṣṣunarrate
عَلَيۡكَʿalaykato you
نَبَأَهُمnaba-ahumtheir story
بِٱلۡحَقِّۚbil-ḥaqiin truth
إِنَّهُمۡinnahumIndeed, they (were)
فِتۡيَةٌfit'yatunyouths
ءَامَنُواْāmanūwho believed
بِرَبِّهِمۡbirabbihimin their Lord
وَزِدۡنَٰهُمۡwazid'nāhumand We increased them
هُدٗىhudan(in) guidance
TRANSLATION

It is We who relate to you, [O Muhammad], their story in truth. Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance

|||
13

وَرَبَطۡنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ إِذۡ قَامُواْ فَقَالُواْ رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ لَن نَّدۡعُوَاْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَٰهٗاۖ لَّقَدۡ قُلۡنَآ إِذٗا شَطَطًا

Warabatna AAala quloobihim ith qamoo faqaloo rabbuna rabbu alssamawati waalardi lan nadAAuwa min doonihi ilahan laqad qulna ithan shatatan

WORD BY WORD
وَرَبَطۡنَاwarabaṭnāAnd We made firm
عَلَىٰʿalā[on]
قُلُوبِهِمۡqulūbihimtheir hearts
إِذۡidhwhen
قَامُواْqāmūthey stood up
فَقَالُواْfaqālūand said
رَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lord
رَبُّrabbu(is) the Lord
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِwal-arḍiand the earth
لَنlanNever
نَّدۡعُوَاْnadʿuwāwe will invoke
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓdūnihibesides Him
إِلَٰهٗاۖilāhanany god
لَّقَدۡlaqadCertainly
قُلۡنَآqul'nāwe would have said
إِذٗاidhanthen
شَطَطًاshaṭaṭanan enormity
TRANSLATION

And We made firm their hearts when they stood up and said, "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then, an excessive transgression

|||
14

هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوۡمُنَا ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةٗۖ لَّوۡلَا يَأۡتُونَ عَلَيۡهِم بِسُلۡطَٰنِۭ بَيِّنٖۖ فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا

Haolai qawmuna ittakhathoo min doonihi alihatan lawla yatoona AAalayhim bisultanin bayyinin faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban

WORD BY WORD
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāiThese
قَوۡمُنَاqawmunāour people
ٱتَّخَذُواْittakhadhūhave taken
مِنminbesides Him
دُونِهِۦٓdūnihibesides Him
ءَالِهَةٗۖālihatangods
لَّوۡلَاlawlāWhy not
يَأۡتُونَyatūnathey come
عَلَيۡهِمʿalayhimto them
بِسُلۡطَٰنِۭbisul'ṭāninwith an authority
بَيِّنٖۖbayyininclear
فَمَنۡfamanAnd who
أَظۡلَمُaẓlamu(is) more wrong
مِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) who
ٱفۡتَرَىٰif'tarāinvents
عَلَىʿalāagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
كَذِبٗاkadhibana lie
TRANSLATION

These, our people, have taken besides Him deities. Why do they not bring for [worship of] them a clear authority? And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie

|||
15

وَإِذِ ٱعۡتَزَلۡتُمُوهُمۡ وَمَا يَعۡبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ فَأۡوُۥٓاْ إِلَى ٱلۡكَهۡفِ يَنشُرۡ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّن رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ وَيُهَيِّئۡ لَكُم مِّنۡ أَمۡرِكُم مِّرۡفَقٗا

Waithi iAAtazaltumoohum wama yaAAbudoona illa Allaha fawoo ila alkahfi yanshur lakum rabbukum min rahmatihi wayuhayyi lakum min amrikum mirfaqan

WORD BY WORD
وَإِذِwa-idhiAnd when
ٱعۡتَزَلۡتُمُوهُمۡiʿ'tazaltumūhumyou withdraw from them
وَمَاwamāand what
يَعۡبُدُونَyaʿbudūnathey worship
إِلَّاillāexcept
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
فَأۡوُۥٓاْfawūthen retreat
إِلَىilāto
ٱلۡكَهۡفِl-kahfithe cave
يَنشُرۡyanshurWill spread
لَكُمۡlakumfor you
رَبُّكُمrabbukumyour Lord
مِّنminof
رَّحۡمَتِهِۦraḥmatihiHis Mercy
وَيُهَيِّئۡwayuhayyiand will facilitate
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنۡmin[from]
أَمۡرِكُمamrikumyour affair
مِّرۡفَقٗاmir'faqan(in) ease
TRANSLATION

[The youths said to one another], "And when you have withdrawn from them and that which they worship other than Allah, retreat to the cave. Your Lord will spread out for you of His mercy and will prepare for you from your affair facility

|||
16

۞وَتَرَى ٱلشَّمۡسَ إِذَا طَلَعَت تَّزَٰوَرُ عَن كَهۡفِهِمۡ ذَاتَ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَإِذَا غَرَبَت تَّقۡرِضُهُمۡ ذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَهُمۡ فِي فَجۡوَةٖ مِّنۡهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِۗ مَن يَهۡدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِۖ وَمَن يُضۡلِلۡ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ وَلِيّٗا مُّرۡشِدٗا

Watara alshshamsa itha talaAAat tazawaru AAan kahfihim thata alyameeni waitha gharabat taqriduhum thata alshshimali wahum fee fajwatin minhu thalika min ayati Allahi man yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadi waman yudlil falan tajida lahu waliyyan murshidan

WORD BY WORD
۞وَتَرَىwatarāAnd you (might) have seen
ٱلشَّمۡسَl-shamsathe sun
إِذَاidhāwhen
طَلَعَتṭalaʿatit rose
تَّزَٰوَرُtazāwaruinclining away
عَنʿanfrom
كَهۡفِهِمۡkahfihimtheir cave
ذَاتَdhātato
ٱلۡيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right
وَإِذَاwa-idhāand when
غَرَبَتgharabatit set
تَّقۡرِضُهُمۡtaqriḍuhumpassing away from them
ذَاتَdhātato
ٱلشِّمَالِl-shimālithe left
وَهُمۡwahumwhile they
فِي(lay) in
فَجۡوَةٖfajwatinthe open space
مِّنۡهُۚmin'huthereof
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
مِنۡmin(was) from
ءَايَٰتِāyāti(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِۗl-lahi(of) Allah
مَنmanWhoever
يَهۡدِyahdiAllah guides
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah guides
فَهُوَfahuwaand he
ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِۖl-muh'tadi(is) the guided one
وَمَنwamanand whoever
يُضۡلِلۡyuḍ'lilHe lets go astray
فَلَنfalanthen never
تَجِدَtajidayou will find
لَهُۥlahufor him
وَلِيّٗاwaliyyana protector
مُّرۡشِدٗاmur'shidana guide
TRANSLATION

And [had you been present], you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were [laying] within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah. He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide

|||
17

وَتَحۡسَبُهُمۡ أَيۡقَاظٗا وَهُمۡ رُقُودٞۚ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمۡ ذَاتَ ٱلۡيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِۖ وَكَلۡبُهُم بَٰسِطٞ ذِرَاعَيۡهِ بِٱلۡوَصِيدِۚ لَوِ ٱطَّلَعۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَوَلَّيۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ فِرَارٗا وَلَمُلِئۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ رُعۡبٗا

Watahsabuhum ayqathan wahum ruqoodun wanuqallibuhum thata alyameeni wathata alshshimali wakalbuhum basitun thiraAAayhi bialwaseedi lawi ittalaAAta AAalayhim lawallayta minhum firaran walamulita minhum ruAAban

WORD BY WORD
وَتَحۡسَبُهُمۡwataḥsabuhumAnd you (would) think them
أَيۡقَاظٗاayqāẓanawake
وَهُمۡwahumwhile they
رُقُودٞۚruqūdun(were) asleep
وَنُقَلِّبُهُمۡwanuqallibuhumAnd We turned them
ذَاتَdhātato
ٱلۡيَمِينِl-yamīnithe right
وَذَاتَwadhātaand to
ٱلشِّمَالِۖl-shimālithe left
وَكَلۡبُهُمwakalbuhumwhile their dog
بَٰسِطٞbāsiṭunstretched
ذِرَاعَيۡهِdhirāʿayhihis two forelegs
بِٱلۡوَصِيدِۚbil-waṣīdiat the entrance
لَوِlawiIf
ٱطَّلَعۡتَiṭṭalaʿtayou had looked
عَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimat them
لَوَلَّيۡتَlawallaytayou (would) have surely turned back
مِنۡهُمۡmin'humfrom them
فِرَارٗاfirāran(in) flight
وَلَمُلِئۡتَwalamuli'taand surely you would have been filled
مِنۡهُمۡmin'humby them
رُعۡبٗاruʿ'ban(with) terror
TRANSLATION

And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror

|||
18

وَكَذَٰلِكَ بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡ لِيَتَسَآءَلُواْ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡۖ قَالُواْ لَبِثۡنَا يَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ يَوۡمٖۚ قَالُواْ رَبُّكُمۡ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثۡتُمۡ فَٱبۡعَثُوٓاْ أَحَدَكُم بِوَرِقِكُمۡ هَٰذِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ فَلۡيَنظُرۡ أَيُّهَآ أَزۡكَىٰ طَعَامٗا فَلۡيَأۡتِكُم بِرِزۡقٖ مِّنۡهُ وَلۡيَتَلَطَّفۡ وَلَا يُشۡعِرَنَّ بِكُمۡ أَحَدًا

Wakathalika baAAathnahum liyatasaaloo baynahum qala qailun minhum kam labithtum qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAda yawmin qaloo rabbukum aAAlamu bima labithtum faibAAathoo ahadakum biwariqikum hathihi ila almadeenati falyanthur ayyuha azka taAAaman falyatikum birizqin minhu walyatalattaf wala yushAAiranna bikum ahadan

WORD BY WORD
وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd similarly
بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡbaʿathnāhumWe raised them
لِيَتَسَآءَلُواْliyatasāalūthat they might question
بَيۡنَهُمۡۚbaynahumamong them
قَالَqālaSaid
قَآئِلٞqāiluna speaker
مِّنۡهُمۡmin'humamong them
كَمۡkamHow long
لَبِثۡتُمۡۖlabith'tumhave you remained
قَالُواْqālūThey said
لَبِثۡنَاlabith'nāWe have remained
يَوۡمًاyawmana day
أَوۡawor
بَعۡضَbaʿḍaa part
يَوۡمٖۚyawmin(of) a day
قَالُواْqālūThey said
رَبُّكُمۡrabbukumYour Lord
أَعۡلَمُaʿlamuknows best
بِمَاbimāhow long
لَبِثۡتُمۡlabith'tumyou have remained
فَٱبۡعَثُوٓاْfa-ib'ʿathūSo send
أَحَدَكُمaḥadakumone of you
بِوَرِقِكُمۡbiwariqikumwith this silver coin of yours
هَٰذِهِۦٓhādhihiwith this silver coin of yours
إِلَىilāto
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe city
فَلۡيَنظُرۡfalyanẓurand let him see
أَيُّهَآayyuhāwhich is
أَزۡكَىٰazkāthe purest
طَعَامٗاṭaʿāmanfood
فَلۡيَأۡتِكُمfalyatikumand let him bring to you
بِرِزۡقٖbiriz'qinprovision
مِّنۡهُmin'hufrom it
وَلۡيَتَلَطَّفۡwalyatalaṭṭafand let him be cautious
وَلَاwalāAnd let not be aware
يُشۡعِرَنَّyush'ʿirannaAnd let not be aware
بِكُمۡbikumabout you
أَحَدًاaḥadananyone
TRANSLATION

And similarly, We awakened them that they might question one another. Said a speaker from among them, "How long have you remained [here]?" They said, "We have remained a day or part of a day." They said, "Your Lord is most knowing of how long you remained. So send one of you with this silver coin of yours to the city and let him look to which is the best of food and bring you provision from it and let him be cautious. And let no one be aware of you

إِنَّهُمۡ إِن يَظۡهَرُواْ عَلَيۡكُمۡ يَرۡجُمُوكُمۡ أَوۡ يُعِيدُوكُمۡ فِي مِلَّتِهِمۡ وَلَن تُفۡلِحُوٓاْ إِذًا أَبَدٗا

Innahum in yathharoo AAalaykum yarjumookum aw yuAAeedookum fee millatihim walan tuflihoo ithan abadan

إِنَّهُمۡinnahumIndeed, [they]
إِنinif
يَظۡهَرُواْyaẓharūthey come to know
عَلَيۡكُمۡʿalaykumabout you
يَرۡجُمُوكُمۡyarjumūkumthey will stone you
أَوۡawor
يُعِيدُوكُمۡyuʿīdūkumreturn you
فِيto
مِلَّتِهِمۡmillatihimtheir religion
وَلَنwalanAnd never
تُفۡلِحُوٓاْtuf'liḥūwill you succeed
إِذًاidhanthen
أَبَدٗاabadanever
TRANSLATION

Indeed, if they come to know of you, they will stone you or return you to their religion. And never would you succeed, then - ever
