قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ

Qad aflaha almuminoona

WORD BY WORD
قَدۡqadIndeed
أَفۡلَحَaflaḥasuccessful
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَl-mu'minūna(are) the believers
TRANSLATION

Certainly will the believers have succeeded

|||
1

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي صَلَاتِهِمۡ خَٰشِعُونَ

Allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoona

WORD BY WORD
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
هُمۡhum[they]
فِيduring
صَلَاتِهِمۡṣalātihimtheir prayers
خَٰشِعُونَkhāshiʿūna(are) humbly submissive
TRANSLATION

They who are during their prayer humbly submissive

|||
2

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنِ ٱللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُونَ

Waallatheena hum AAani allaghwi muAAridoona

WORD BY WORD
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaThose who
هُمۡhum[they]
عَنِʿanifrom
ٱللَّغۡوِl-laghwithe vain talk
مُعۡرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūnaturn away
TRANSLATION

And they who turn away from ill speech

|||
3

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَٰعِلُونَ

Waallatheena hum lilzzakati faAAiloona

WORD BY WORD
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaThose who
هُمۡhum[they]
لِلزَّكَوٰةِlilzzakatiof purification works
فَٰعِلُونَfāʿilūna(are) doers
TRANSLATION

And they who are observant of zakah

|||
4

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ حَٰفِظُونَ

Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona

WORD BY WORD
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
هُمۡhum[they]
لِفُرُوجِهِمۡlifurūjihimof their modesty
حَٰفِظُونَḥāfiẓūna(are) guardians
TRANSLATION

And they who guard their private parts

|||
5

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ غَيۡرُ مَلُومِينَ

Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena

WORD BY WORD
إِلَّاillāExcept
عَلَىٰٓʿalāfrom
أَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡazwājihimtheir spouses
أَوۡawor
مَاwhat
مَلَكَتۡmalakatpossess
أَيۡمَٰنُهُمۡaymānuhumtheir right hands
فَإِنَّهُمۡfa-innahumthen indeed, they
غَيۡرُghayru(are) not
مَلُومِينَmalūmīnablameworthy
TRANSLATION

Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed

|||
6

فَمَنِ ٱبۡتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡعَادُونَ

Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona

WORD BY WORD
فَمَنِfamaniThen whoever
ٱبۡتَغَىٰib'taghāseeks
وَرَآءَwarāabeyond
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلۡعَادُونَl-ʿādūna(are) the transgressors
TRANSLATION

But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors

|||
7

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَٰعُونَ

Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona

WORD BY WORD
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
هُمۡhum[they]
لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمۡli-amānātihimof their trusts
وَعَهۡدِهِمۡwaʿahdihimand their promise(s)
رَٰعُونَrāʿūna(are) observers
TRANSLATION

And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive

|||
8

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمۡ يُحَافِظُونَ

Waallatheena hum AAala salawatihim yuhafithoona

WORD BY WORD
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
هُمۡhum[they]
عَلَىٰʿalāover
صَلَوَٰتِهِمۡṣalawātihimtheir prayers
يُحَافِظُونَyuḥāfiẓūnathey guard
TRANSLATION

And they who carefully maintain their prayers

|||
9

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَ

Olaika humu alwarithoona

WORD BY WORD
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَl-wārithūna(are) the inheritors
TRANSLATION

Those are the inheritors

|||
10

ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

Allatheena yarithoona alfirdawsa hum feeha khalidoona

WORD BY WORD
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaWho
يَرِثُونَyarithūnawill inherit
ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَl-fir'dawsathe Paradise
هُمۡhumThey
فِيهَاfīhātherein
خَٰلِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
TRANSLATION

Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally

|||
11

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن طِينٖ

Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min sulalatin min teenin

WORD BY WORD
وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd indeed
خَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnāWe created
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَl-insānathe humankind
مِنminfrom
سُلَٰلَةٖsulālatinan essence
مِّنminof
طِينٖṭīninclay
TRANSLATION

And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay

|||
12

ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ نُطۡفَةٗ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٖ

Thumma jaAAalnahu nutfatan fee qararin makeenin

WORD BY WORD
ثُمَّthummaThen
جَعَلۡنَٰهُjaʿalnāhuWe placed him
نُطۡفَةٗnuṭ'fatan(as) a semen-drop
فِيin
قَرَارٖqarārina resting place
مَّكِينٖmakīninfirm
TRANSLATION

Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging

|||
13

ثُمَّ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلنُّطۡفَةَ عَلَقَةٗ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡعَلَقَةَ مُضۡغَةٗ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَ عِظَٰمٗا فَكَسَوۡنَا ٱلۡعِظَٰمَ لَحۡمٗا ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَٰهُ خَلۡقًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ

Thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka Allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeena

WORD BY WORD
ثُمَّthummaThen
خَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnāWe created
ٱلنُّطۡفَةَl-nuṭ'fatathe semen-drop
عَلَقَةٗʿalaqatan(into) a clinging substance
فَخَلَقۡنَاfakhalaqnāthen We created
ٱلۡعَلَقَةَl-ʿalaqatathe clinging substance
مُضۡغَةٗmuḍ'ghatan(into) an embryonic lump
فَخَلَقۡنَاfakhalaqnāthen We created
ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَl-muḍ'ghatathe embryonic lump
عِظَٰمٗاʿiẓāman(into) bones
فَكَسَوۡنَاfakasawnāthen We clothed
ٱلۡعِظَٰمَl-ʿiẓāmathe bones
لَحۡمٗاlaḥman(with) flesh
ثُمَّthummathen
أَنشَأۡنَٰهُanshanāhuWe produce it
خَلۡقًاkhalqan(as) a creation
ءَاخَرَۚākharaanother
فَتَبَارَكَfatabārakaSo blessed is
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
أَحۡسَنُaḥsanu(the) Best
ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَl-khāliqīna(of) the Creators
TRANSLATION

Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators

|||
14

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ

Thumma innakum baAAda thalika lamayyitoona

WORD BY WORD
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِنَّكُمinnakumindeed, you
بَعۡدَbaʿdaafter
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
لَمَيِّتُونَlamayyitūnasurely (will) die
TRANSLATION

Then indeed, after that you are to die

|||
15

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ تُبۡعَثُونَ

Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoona

WORD BY WORD
ثُمَّthummaThen
إِنَّكُمۡinnakumindeed, you
يَوۡمَyawma(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
تُبۡعَثُونَtub'ʿathūnawill be resurrected
TRANSLATION

Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected

|||
16

وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلۡخَلۡقِ غَٰفِلِينَ

Walaqad khalaqna fawqakum sabAAa taraiqa wama kunna AAani alkhalqi ghafileena

WORD BY WORD
وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd indeed
خَلَقۡنَاkhalaqnāWe (have) created
فَوۡقَكُمۡfawqakumabove you
سَبۡعَsabʿaseven
طَرَآئِقَṭarāiqapaths
وَمَاwamāand not
كُنَّاkunnāWe are
عَنِʿaniof
ٱلۡخَلۡقِl-khalqithe creation
غَٰفِلِينَghāfilīnaunaware
TRANSLATION

And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware

|||
17

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءَۢ بِقَدَرٖ فَأَسۡكَنَّـٰهُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِۭ بِهِۦ لَقَٰدِرُونَ

Waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroona

WORD BY WORD
وَأَنزَلۡنَاwa-anzalnāAnd We send down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءَۢmāanwater
بِقَدَرٖbiqadarinin (due) measure
فَأَسۡكَنَّـٰهُfa-askannāhuthen We cause it to settle
فِيin
ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖl-arḍithe earth
وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, We
عَلَىٰʿalāon
ذَهَابِۭdhahābintaking it away
بِهِۦbihitaking it away
لَقَٰدِرُونَlaqādirūnasurely (are) Able
TRANSLATION

And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away

|||
18

فَأَنشَأۡنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٖ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَأَعۡنَٰبٖ لَّكُمۡ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٞ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ

Faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloona

WORD BY WORD
فَأَنشَأۡنَاfa-anshanāThen We produced
لَكُمlakumfor you
بِهِۦbihiby it
جَنَّـٰتٖjannātingardens
مِّنminof date-palms
نَّخِيلٖnakhīlinof date-palms
وَأَعۡنَٰبٖwa-aʿnābinand grapevines
لَّكُمۡlakumfor you
فِيهَاfīhāin it
فَوَٰكِهُfawākihu(are) fruits
كَثِيرَةٞkathīratunabundant
وَمِنۡهَاwamin'hāand from them
تَأۡكُلُونَtakulūnayou eat
TRANSLATION

And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat

|||
19

وَشَجَرَةٗ تَخۡرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيۡنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهۡنِ وَصِبۡغٖ لِّلۡأٓكِلِينَ

Washajaratan takhruju min toori saynaa tanbutu bialdduhni wasibghin lilakileena

WORD BY WORD
وَشَجَرَةٗwashajaratanAnd a tree
تَخۡرُجُtakhruju(that) springs forth
مِنminfrom
طُورِṭūriMount Sinai
سَيۡنَآءَsaynāaMount Sinai
تَنۢبُتُtanbutu(which) produces
بِٱلدُّهۡنِbil-duh'nioil
وَصِبۡغٖwaṣib'ghinand a relish
لِّلۡأٓكِلِينَlil'ākilīnafor those who eat
TRANSLATION

And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat
