طسٓۚ تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ وَكِتَابٖ مُّبِينٍ

Taseen tilka ayatu alqurani wakitabin mubeenin

WORD BY WORD
طسٓۚtta-seenTa Seen
تِلۡكَtil'kaThese
ءَايَٰتُāyātu(are the) Verses
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِl-qur'āni(of) the Quran
وَكِتَابٖwakitābinand a Book
مُّبِينٍmubīninclear
TRANSLATION

Ta, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a clear Book

|||
1

هُدٗى وَبُشۡرَىٰ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

Hudan wabushra lilmumineena

WORD BY WORD
هُدٗىhudanA guidance
وَبُشۡرَىٰwabush'rāand glad tidings
لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
TRANSLATION

As guidance and good tidings for the believers

|||
2

ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمۡ يُوقِنُونَ

Allatheena yuqeemoona alssalata wayutoona alzzakata wahum bialakhirati hum yooqinoona

WORD BY WORD
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose who
يُقِيمُونَyuqīmūnaestablish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
وَيُؤۡتُونَwayu'tūnaand give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatazakah
وَهُمwahumand they
بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
هُمۡhum[they]
يُوقِنُونَyūqinūnabelieve with certainty
TRANSLATION

Who establish prayer and give zakah, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]

|||
3

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ

Inna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahum fahum yaAAmahoona

WORD BY WORD
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
لَا(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafter
زَيَّنَّاzayyannāWe have made fair-seeming
لَهُمۡlahumto them
أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡaʿmālahumtheir deeds
فَهُمۡfahumso they
يَعۡمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawander blindly
TRANSLATION

Indeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly

|||
4

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَهُمۡ سُوٓءُ ٱلۡعَذَابِ وَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلۡأَخۡسَرُونَ

Olaika allatheena lahum sooo alAAathabi wahum fee alakhirati humu alakhsaroona

WORD BY WORD
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones
لَهُمۡlahumfor them
سُوٓءُsūu(is) an evil
ٱلۡعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi[the] punishment
وَهُمۡwahumand they
فِيin
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
هُمُhumu[they]
ٱلۡأَخۡسَرُونَl-akhsarūna(will be) the greatest losers
TRANSLATION

Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers

|||
5

وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ مِن لَّدُنۡ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ

Wainnaka latulaqqa alqurana min ladun hakeemin AAaleemin

WORD BY WORD
وَإِنَّكَwa-innakaAnd indeed, you
لَتُلَقَّىlatulaqqāsurely, receive
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quran
مِنminfrom [near]
لَّدُنۡladunfrom [near]
حَكِيمٍḥakīminthe All-Wise
عَلِيمٍʿalīminthe All-Knower
TRANSLATION

And indeed, [O Muhammad], you receive the Qur'an from one Wise and Knowing

|||
6

إِذۡ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهۡلِهِۦٓ إِنِّيٓ ءَانَسۡتُ نَارٗا سَـَٔاتِيكُم مِّنۡهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوۡ ءَاتِيكُم بِشِهَابٖ قَبَسٖ لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَصۡطَلُونَ

Ith qala moosa liahlihi innee anastu naran saateekum minha bikhabarin aw ateekum bishihabin qabasin laAAallakum tastaloona

WORD BY WORD
إِذۡidhWhen
قَالَqālasaid
مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
لِأَهۡلِهِۦٓli-ahlihito his family
إِنِّيٓinnīIndeed, I
ءَانَسۡتُānastuperceive
نَارٗاnārana fire
سَـَٔاتِيكُمsaātīkumI will bring you
مِّنۡهَاmin'hāfrom it
بِخَبَرٍbikhabarinsome information
أَوۡawor
ءَاتِيكُمātīkumI will bring you
بِشِهَابٖbishihābina torch
قَبَسٖqabasinburning
لَّعَلَّكُمۡlaʿallakumso that you may
تَصۡطَلُونَtaṣṭalūnawarm yourselves
TRANSLATION

[Mention] when Moses said to his family, "Indeed, I have perceived a fire. I will bring you from there information or will bring you a burning torch that you may warm yourselves

|||
7

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنۢ بُورِكَ مَن فِي ٱلنَّارِ وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهَا وَسُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

Falamma jaaha noodiya an boorika man fee alnnari waman hawlaha wasubhana Allahi rabbi alAAalameena

WORD BY WORD
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَهَاjāahāhe came to it
نُودِيَnūdiyahe was called
أَنۢan[that]
بُورِكَbūrikaBlessed is
مَنmanwho
فِي(is) at
ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe fire
وَمَنۡwamanand whoever
حَوۡلَهَاḥawlahā(is) around it
وَسُبۡحَٰنَwasub'ḥānaAnd glory be
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allah
رَبِّrabbi(the) Lord
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
TRANSLATION

But when he came to it, he was called, "Blessed is whoever is at the fire and whoever is around it. And exalted is Allah, Lord of the worlds

|||
8

يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡحَكِيمُ

Ya moosa innahu ana Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu

WORD BY WORD
يَٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
إِنَّهُۥٓinnahuIndeed
أَنَاanāI Am
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
ٱلۡعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mighty
ٱلۡحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
TRANSLATION

O Moses, indeed it is I - Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise

|||
9

وَأَلۡقِ عَصَاكَۚ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهۡتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنّٞ وَلَّىٰ مُدۡبِرٗا وَلَمۡ يُعَقِّبۡۚ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفۡ إِنِّي لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

Waalqi AAasaka falamma raaha tahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiran walam yuAAaqqib ya moosa la takhaf innee la yakhafu ladayya almursaloona

WORD BY WORD
وَأَلۡقِwa-alqiAnd, "Throw
عَصَاكَۚʿaṣākayour staff
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
رَءَاهَاraāhāhe saw it
تَهۡتَزُّtahtazzumoving
كَأَنَّهَاka-annahāas if it
جَآنّٞjānnun(were) a snake
وَلَّىٰwallāhe turned back
مُدۡبِرٗاmud'biran(in) flight
وَلَمۡwalamand (did) not
يُعَقِّبۡۚyuʿaqqiblook back
يَٰمُوسَىٰyāmūsāO Musa
لَا(Do) not
تَخَفۡtakhaffear
إِنِّيinnīIndeed, [I]
لَا(do) not
يَخَافُyakhāfufear
لَدَيَّladayya(in) My presence
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَl-mur'salūnathe Messengers
TRANSLATION

And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allah said], "O Moses, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear

|||
10

إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسۡنَۢا بَعۡدَ سُوٓءٖ فَإِنِّي غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ

Illa man thalama thumma baddala husnan baAAda sooin fainnee ghafoorun raheemun

WORD BY WORD
إِلَّاillāExcept
مَنmanwho
ظَلَمَẓalamawrongs
ثُمَّthummathen
بَدَّلَbaddalasubstitutes
حُسۡنَۢاḥus'nangood
بَعۡدَbaʿdaafter
سُوٓءٖsūinevil
فَإِنِّيfa-innīthen indeed, I Am
غَفُورٞghafūrunOft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞraḥīmunMost Merciful
TRANSLATION

Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful

|||
11

وَأَدۡخِلۡ يَدَكَ فِي جَيۡبِكَ تَخۡرُجۡ بَيۡضَآءَ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ سُوٓءٖۖ فِي تِسۡعِ ءَايَٰتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَقَوۡمِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ

Waadkhil yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaa min ghayri sooin fee tisAAi ayatin ila firAAawna waqawmihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena

WORD BY WORD
وَأَدۡخِلۡwa-adkhilAnd enter
يَدَكَyadakayour hand
فِيinto
جَيۡبِكَjaybikayour bosom
تَخۡرُجۡtakhrujit will come forth
بَيۡضَآءَbayḍāawhite
مِنۡminwithout
غَيۡرِghayriwithout
سُوٓءٖۖsūinharm
فِي(These are) among
تِسۡعِtis'ʿinine
ءَايَٰتٍāyātinsigns
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرۡعَوۡنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
وَقَوۡمِهِۦٓۚwaqawmihiand his people
إِنَّهُمۡinnahumIndeed, they
كَانُواْkānūare
قَوۡمٗاqawmana people
فَٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
TRANSLATION

And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient

|||
12

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡهُمۡ ءَايَٰتُنَا مُبۡصِرَةٗ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ

Falamma jaathum ayatuna mubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeenun

WORD BY WORD
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
جَآءَتۡهُمۡjāathumcame to them
ءَايَٰتُنَاāyātunāOur Signs
مُبۡصِرَةٗmub'ṣiratanvisible
قَالُواْqālūthey said
هَٰذَاhādhāThis
سِحۡرٞsiḥ'run(is) a magic
مُّبِينٞmubīnunmanifest
TRANSLATION

But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic

|||
13

وَجَحَدُواْ بِهَا وَٱسۡتَيۡقَنَتۡهَآ أَنفُسُهُمۡ ظُلۡمٗا وَعُلُوّٗاۚ فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

Wajahadoo biha waistayqanatha anfusuhum thulman waAAuluwwan faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena

WORD BY WORD
وَجَحَدُواْwajaḥadūAnd they rejected
بِهَاbihāthem
وَٱسۡتَيۡقَنَتۡهَآwa-is'tayqanathāthough were convinced with them (signs)
أَنفُسُهُمۡanfusuhumthemselves
ظُلۡمٗاẓul'man(out of) injustice
وَعُلُوّٗاۚwaʿuluwwanand haughtiness
فَٱنظُرۡfa-unẓurSo see
كَيۡفَkayfahow
كَانَkānawas
عَٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) end
ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters
TRANSLATION

And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters

|||
14

وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيۡمَٰنَ عِلۡمٗاۖ وَقَالَا ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

Walaqad atayna dawooda wasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdu lillahi allathee faddalana AAala katheerin min AAibadihi almumineena

WORD BY WORD
وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd verily
ءَاتَيۡنَاātaynāWe gave
دَاوُۥدَdāwūdaDawood
وَسُلَيۡمَٰنَwasulaymānaand Sulaiman
عِلۡمٗاۖʿil'manknowledge
وَقَالَاwaqālāand they said
ٱلۡحَمۡدُl-ḥamduPraise be
لِلَّهِlillahito Allah
ٱلَّذِيalladhīthe One Who
فَضَّلَنَاfaḍḍalanāhas favored us
عَلَىٰʿalāover
كَثِيرٖkathīrinmany
مِّنۡminof
عِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis servants
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
TRANSLATION

And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah, who has favored us over many of His believing servants

|||
15

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيۡمَٰنُ دَاوُۥدَۖ وَقَالَ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ عُلِّمۡنَا مَنطِقَ ٱلطَّيۡرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٍۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَضۡلُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ

Wawaritha sulaymanu dawooda waqala ya ayyuha alnnasu AAullimna mantiqa alttayri waooteena min kulli shayin inna hatha lahuwa alfadlu almubeenu

WORD BY WORD
وَوَرِثَwawarithaAnd inherited
سُلَيۡمَٰنُsulaymānuSulaiman
دَاوُۥدَۖdāwūdaDawood
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd he said
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلنَّاسُl-nāsupeople
عُلِّمۡنَاʿullim'nāWe have been taught
مَنطِقَmanṭiqa(the) language
ٱلطَّيۡرِl-ṭayri(of) the birds
وَأُوتِينَاwaūtīnāand we have been given
مِنminfrom
كُلِّkullievery
شَيۡءٍۖshayinthing
إِنَّinnaIndeed
هَٰذَاhādhāthis
لَهُوَlahuwasurely, it
ٱلۡفَضۡلُl-faḍlu(is) the favor
ٱلۡمُبِينُl-mubīnuevident
TRANSLATION

And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty

|||
16

وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيۡمَٰنَ جُنُودُهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ وَٱلطَّيۡرِ فَهُمۡ يُوزَعُونَ

Wahushira lisulaymana junooduhu mina aljinni waalinsi waalttayri fahum yoozaAAoona

WORD BY WORD
وَحُشِرَwaḥushiraAnd were gathered
لِسُلَيۡمَٰنَlisulaymānafor Sulaiman
جُنُودُهُۥjunūduhuhis hosts
مِنَminaof
ٱلۡجِنِّl-jinijinn
وَٱلۡإِنسِwal-insiand the men
وَٱلطَّيۡرِwal-ṭayriand the birds
فَهُمۡfahumand they
يُوزَعُونَyūzaʿūna(were) set in rows
TRANSLATION

And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows

|||
17

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ وَادِ ٱلنَّمۡلِ قَالَتۡ نَمۡلَةٞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّمۡلُ ٱدۡخُلُواْ مَسَٰكِنَكُمۡ لَا يَحۡطِمَنَّكُمۡ سُلَيۡمَٰنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ

Hatta itha ataw AAala wadi alnnamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuha alnnamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakum sulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroona

WORD BY WORD
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāUntil
إِذَآidhāwhen
أَتَوۡاْatawthey came
عَلَىٰʿalāto
وَادِwādi(the) valley
ٱلنَّمۡلِl-namli(of) the ants
قَالَتۡqālatsaid
نَمۡلَةٞnamlatunan ant
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
ٱلنَّمۡلُl-namluants
ٱدۡخُلُواْud'khulūEnter
مَسَٰكِنَكُمۡmasākinakumyour dwellings
لَاlest not crush you
يَحۡطِمَنَّكُمۡyaḥṭimannakumlest not crush you
سُلَيۡمَٰنُsulaymānuSulaiman
وَجُنُودُهُۥwajunūduhuand his hosts
وَهُمۡwahumwhile they
لَا(do) not perceive
يَشۡعُرُونَyashʿurūna(do) not perceive
TRANSLATION

Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not

|||
18

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكٗا مِّن قَوۡلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوۡزِعۡنِيٓ أَنۡ أَشۡكُرَ نِعۡمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِيٓ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَيَّ وَأَنۡ أَعۡمَلَ صَٰلِحٗا تَرۡضَىٰهُ وَأَدۡخِلۡنِي بِرَحۡمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

Fatabassama dahikan min qawliha waqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadika alssaliheena

WORD BY WORD
فَتَبَسَّمَfatabassamaSo he smiled
ضَاحِكٗاḍāḥikanlaughing
مِّنminat
قَوۡلِهَاqawlihāher speech
وَقَالَwaqālaand said
رَبِّrabbiMy Lord
أَوۡزِعۡنِيٓawziʿ'nīGrant me (the) power
أَنۡanthat
أَشۡكُرَashkuraI may thank You
نِعۡمَتَكَniʿ'mataka(for) Your Favor
ٱلَّتِيٓallatīwhich
أَنۡعَمۡتَanʿamtaYou have bestowed
عَلَيَّʿalayyaon me
وَعَلَىٰwaʿalāand on
وَٰلِدَيَّwālidayyamy parents
وَأَنۡwa-anand that
أَعۡمَلَaʿmalaI may do
صَٰلِحٗاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)
تَرۡضَىٰهُtarḍāhuthat will please You
وَأَدۡخِلۡنِيwa-adkhil'nīAnd admit me
بِرَحۡمَتِكَbiraḥmatikaby Your Mercy
فِيamong
عِبَادِكَʿibādikaYour slaves
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnarighteous
TRANSLATION

So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants

|||
19

وَتَفَقَّدَ ٱلطَّيۡرَ فَقَالَ مَالِيَ لَآ أَرَى ٱلۡهُدۡهُدَ أَمۡ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَآئِبِينَ

Watafaqqada alttayra faqala ma liya la ara alhudhuda am kana mina alghaibeena

وَتَفَقَّدَwatafaqqadaAnd he inspected
ٱلطَّيۡرَl-ṭayrathe birds
فَقَالَfaqālaand said
مَالِيَWhy
لَآliyaWhy
أَرَىnot
ٱلۡهُدۡهُدَarāI see
أَمۡl-hud'hudathe hoopoe
كَانَamor
مِنَkānais he
ٱلۡغَآئِبِينَminafrom
l-ghāibīnathe absent
TRANSLATION

And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent
