إِنَّا فَتَحۡنَا لَكَ فَتۡحٗا مُّبِينٗا

Inna fatahna laka fathan mubeenan

WORD BY WORD
إِنَّاinnāIndeed
فَتَحۡنَاfataḥnāWe have given victory
لَكَlakato you
فَتۡحٗاfatḥana victory
مُّبِينٗاmubīnanclear
TRANSLATION

Indeed, We have given you, [O Muhammad], a clear conquest

|||
1

لِّيَغۡفِرَ لَكَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنۢبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ وَيُتِمَّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَيۡكَ وَيَهۡدِيَكَ صِرَٰطٗا مُّسۡتَقِيمٗا

Liyaghfira laka Allahu ma taqaddama min thanbika wama taakhkhara wayutimma niAAmatahu AAalayka wayahdiyaka siratan mustaqeeman

WORD BY WORD
لِّيَغۡفِرَliyaghfiraThat may forgive
لَكَlakafor you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
مَاwhat
تَقَدَّمَtaqaddamapreceded
مِنminof
ذَنۢبِكَdhanbikayour sins
وَمَاwamāand what
تَأَخَّرَta-akharawill follow
وَيُتِمَّwayutimmaand complete
نِعۡمَتَهُۥniʿ'matahuHis favor
عَلَيۡكَʿalaykaupon you
وَيَهۡدِيَكَwayahdiyakaand guide you
صِرَٰطٗاṣirāṭan(to) a Path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٗاmus'taqīmanStraight
TRANSLATION

That Allah may forgive for you what preceded of your sin and what will follow and complete His favor upon you and guide you to a straight path

|||
2

وَيَنصُرَكَ ٱللَّهُ نَصۡرًا عَزِيزًا

Wayansuraka Allahu nasran AAazeezan

WORD BY WORD
وَيَنصُرَكَwayanṣurakaAnd Allah may help you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah may help you
نَصۡرًاnaṣran(with) a help
عَزِيزًاʿazīzanmighty
TRANSLATION

And [that] Allah may aid you with a mighty victory

|||
3

هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ لِيَزۡدَادُوٓاْ إِيمَٰنٗا مَّعَ إِيمَٰنِهِمۡۗ وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمٗا

Huwa allathee anzala alssakeenata fee quloobi almumineena liyazdadoo eemanan maAAa eemanihim walillahi junoodu alssamawati waalardi wakana Allahu AAaleeman hakeeman

WORD BY WORD
هُوَhuwaHe
ٱلَّذِيٓalladhī(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَanzalasent down
ٱلسَّكِينَةَl-sakīnata[the] tranquility
فِيin(to)
قُلُوبِqulūbi(the) hearts
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believers
لِيَزۡدَادُوٓاْliyazdādūthat they may increase
إِيمَٰنٗاīmānan(in) faith
مَّعَmaʿawith
إِيمَٰنِهِمۡۗīmānihimtheir faith
وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
جُنُودُjunūdu(are the) hosts
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚwal-arḍiand the earth
وَكَانَwakānaand Allah
ٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah
عَلِيمًاʿalīman(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٗاḥakīmanAll-Wise
TRANSLATION

It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allah Knowing and Wise

|||
4

لِّيُدۡخِلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ جَنَّـٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَيُكَفِّرَ عَنۡهُمۡ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ فَوۡزًا عَظِيمٗا

Liyudkhila almumineena waalmuminati jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wayukaffira AAanhum sayyiatihim wakana thalika AAinda Allahi fawzan AAatheeman

لِّيُدۡخِلَliyud'khilaThat He may admit
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believing men
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِwal-mu'minātiand the believing women
جَنَّـٰتٖjannātin(to) Gardens
تَجۡرِيtajrīflow
مِنminfrom
تَحۡتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath them
ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُl-anhāruthe rivers
خَٰلِدِينَkhālidīna(to) abide forever
فِيهَاfīhātherein
وَيُكَفِّرَwayukaffiraand (to) remove
عَنۡهُمۡʿanhumfrom them
سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡۚsayyiātihimtheir misdeeds
وَكَانَwakānaand is
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
عِندَʿindawith
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
فَوۡزًاfawzana success
عَظِيمٗاʿaẓīmangreat
TRANSLATION

[And] that He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein eternally and remove from them their misdeeds - and ever is that, in the sight of Allah, a great attainment

|||
5

وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكَٰتِ ٱلظَّآنِّينَ بِٱللَّهِ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوۡءِۚ عَلَيۡهِمۡ دَآئِرَةُ ٱلسَّوۡءِۖ وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَعَنَهُمۡ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ جَهَنَّمَۖ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِيرٗا

WayuAAaththiba almunafiqeena waalmunafiqati waalmushrikeena waalmushrikati alththanneena biAllahi thanna alssawi AAalayhim dairatu alssawi waghadiba Allahu AAalayhim walaAAanahum waaAAadda lahum jahannama wasaat maseeran

WORD BY WORD
وَيُعَذِّبَwayuʿadhibaAnd He (may) punish
ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocrite men
وَٱلۡمُنَٰفِقَٰتِwal-munāfiqātiand the hypocrite women
وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَwal-mush'rikīnaand the polytheist men
وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكَٰتِwal-mush'rikātiand the polytheist women
ٱلظَّآنِّينَl-ẓānīnawho assume
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allah
ظَنَّẓannaan assumption
ٱلسَّوۡءِۚl-sawievil
عَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimUpon them
دَآئِرَةُdāiratu(is) a turn
ٱلسَّوۡءِۖl-sawi(of) evil
وَغَضِبَwaghaḍibaand Allah's wrath (is)
ٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah's wrath (is)
عَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimupon them
وَلَعَنَهُمۡwalaʿanahumand He has cursed them
وَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaand prepared
لَهُمۡlahumfor them
جَهَنَّمَۖjahannamaHell
وَسَآءَتۡwasāatand evil
مَصِيرٗاmaṣīran(is the) destination
TRANSLATION

And [that] He may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and polytheist women - those who assume about Allah an assumption of evil nature. Upon them is a misfortune of evil nature; and Allah has become angry with them and has cursed them and prepared for them Hell, and evil it is as a destination

|||
6

وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا

Walillahi junoodu alssamawati waalardi wakana Allahu AAazeezan hakeeman

WORD BY WORD
وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
جُنُودُjunūdu(are the) hosts
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚwal-arḍiand the earth
وَكَانَwakānaand Allah
ٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah
عَزِيزًاʿazīzan(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
TRANSLATION

And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise

|||
7

إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ شَٰهِدٗا وَمُبَشِّرٗا وَنَذِيرٗا

Inna arsalnaka shahidan wamubashshiran wanatheeran

WORD BY WORD
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, We
أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَarsalnāka[We] have sent you
شَٰهِدٗاshāhidan(as) a witness
وَمُبَشِّرٗاwamubashiranand (as) a bearer of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرٗاwanadhīranand (as) a warner
TRANSLATION

Indeed, We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner

|||
8

لِّتُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوهُۚ وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ بُكۡرَةٗ وَأَصِيلًا

Lituminoo biAllahi warasoolihi watuAAazziroohu watuwaqqiroohu watusabbihoohu bukratan waaseelan

WORD BY WORD
لِّتُؤۡمِنُواْlitu'minūThat you may believe
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His Messenger
وَتُعَزِّرُوهُwatuʿazzirūhuand (may) honor him
وَتُوَقِّرُوهُۚwatuwaqqirūhuand respect him
وَتُسَبِّحُوهُwatusabbiḥūhuand glorify Him
بُكۡرَةٗbuk'ratanmorning
وَأَصِيلًاwa-aṣīlanand evening
TRANSLATION

That you [people] may believe in Allah and His Messenger and honor him and respect the Prophet and exalt Allah morning and afternoon

|||
9

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَايِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا يُبَايِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ يَدُ ٱللَّهِ فَوۡقَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ فَمَن نَّكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦۖ وَمَنۡ أَوۡفَىٰ بِمَا عَٰهَدَ عَلَيۡهُ ٱللَّهَ فَسَيُؤۡتِيهِ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمٗا

Inna allatheena yubayiAAoonaka innama yubayiAAoona Allaha yadu Allahi fawqa aydeehim faman nakatha fainnama yankuthu AAala nafsihi waman awfa bima AAahada AAalayhu Allaha fasayuteehi ajran AAatheeman

WORD BY WORD
إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
يُبَايِعُونَكَyubāyiʿūnakapledge allegiance to you
إِنَّمَاinnamāonly
يُبَايِعُونَyubāyiʿūnathey pledge allegiance
ٱللَّهَl-laha(to) Allah
يَدُyadu(The) Hand
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
فَوۡقَfawqa(is) over
أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚaydīhimtheir hands
فَمَنfamanThen whoever
نَّكَثَnakathabreaks (his oath)
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen only
يَنكُثُyankuthuhe breaks
عَلَىٰʿalāagainst
نَفۡسِهِۦۖnafsihihimself
وَمَنۡwamanand whoever
أَوۡفَىٰawfāfulfils
بِمَاbimāwhat
عَٰهَدَʿāhadahe has covenanted
عَلَيۡهُʿalayhu(with)
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
فَسَيُؤۡتِيهِfasayu'tīhisoon He will give him
أَجۡرًاajrana reward
عَظِيمٗاʿaẓīmangreat
TRANSLATION

Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allah - He will give him a great reward

|||
10

سَيَقُولُ لَكَ ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ شَغَلَتۡنَآ أَمۡوَٰلُنَا وَأَهۡلُونَا فَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَنَاۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَلۡسِنَتِهِم مَّا لَيۡسَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَمَن يَمۡلِكُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـًٔا إِنۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ ضَرًّا أَوۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ نَفۡعَۢاۚ بَلۡ كَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرَۢا

Sayaqoolu laka almukhallafoona mina alaAArabi shaghalatna amwaluna waahloona faistaghfir lana yaqooloona bialsinatihim ma laysa fee quloobihim qul faman yamliku lakum mina Allahi shayan in arada bikum darran aw arada bikum nafAAan bal kana Allahu bima taAAmaloona khabeeran

WORD BY WORD
سَيَقُولُsayaqūluWill say
لَكَlakato you
ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَl-mukhalafūnathose who remained behind
مِنَminaof
ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِl-aʿrābithe Bedouins
شَغَلَتۡنَآshaghalatnāKept us busy
أَمۡوَٰلُنَاamwālunāour properties
وَأَهۡلُونَاwa-ahlūnāand our families
فَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡfa-is'taghfirso ask forgiveness
لَنَاۚlanāfor us
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey say
بِأَلۡسِنَتِهِمbi-alsinatihimwith their tongues
مَّاwhat
لَيۡسَlaysais not
فِيin
قُلُوبِهِمۡۚqulūbihimtheir hearts
قُلۡqulSay
فَمَنfamanThen who
يَمۡلِكُyamlikuhas power
لَكُمlakumfor you
مِّنَminaagainst
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
شَيۡـًٔاshayan(in) anything
إِنۡinif
أَرَادَarādaHe intends
بِكُمۡbikumfor you
ضَرًّاḍarranharm
أَوۡawor
أَرَادَarādaHe intends
بِكُمۡbikumfor you
نَفۡعَۢاۚnafʿana benefit
بَلۡbalNay
كَانَkānais
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
بِمَاbimāof what
تَعۡمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
خَبِيرَۢاkhabīranAll-Aware
TRANSLATION

Those who remained behind of the bedouins will say to you, "Our properties and our families occupied us, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not within their hearts. Say, "Then who could prevent Allah at all if He intended for you harm or intended for you benefit? Rather, ever is Allah, with what you do, Acquainted

|||
11

بَلۡ ظَنَنتُمۡ أَن لَّن يَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِيهِمۡ أَبَدٗا وَزُيِّنَ ذَٰلِكَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمۡ وَظَنَنتُمۡ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوۡءِ وَكُنتُمۡ قَوۡمَۢا بُورٗا

Bal thanantum an lan yanqaliba alrrasoolu waalmuminoona ila ahleehim abadan wazuyyina thalika fee quloobikum wathanantum thanna alssawi wakuntum qawman booran

WORD BY WORD
بَلۡbalNay
ظَنَنتُمۡẓanantumyou thought
أَنanthat
لَّنlan(would) never
يَنقَلِبَyanqalibareturn
ٱلرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messenger
وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَwal-mu'minūnaand the believers
إِلَىٰٓilāto
أَهۡلِيهِمۡahlīhimtheir families
أَبَدٗاabadanever
وَزُيِّنَwazuyyinathat was made fair-seeming
ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat was made fair-seeming
فِيin
قُلُوبِكُمۡqulūbikumyour hearts
وَظَنَنتُمۡwaẓanantumAnd you assumed
ظَنَّẓannaan assumption
ٱلسَّوۡءِl-sawievil
وَكُنتُمۡwakuntumand you became
قَوۡمَۢاqawmana people
بُورٗاbūranruined
TRANSLATION

But you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, ever, and that was made pleasing in your hearts. And you assumed an assumption of evil and became a people ruined

|||
12

وَمَن لَّمۡ يُؤۡمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ فَإِنَّآ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ سَعِيرٗا

Waman lam yumin biAllahi warasoolihi fainna aAAtadna lilkafireena saAAeeran

WORD BY WORD
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
لَّمۡlam(has) not believed
يُؤۡمِنۢyu'min(has) not believed
بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His Messenger
فَإِنَّآfa-innāthen indeed, We
أَعۡتَدۡنَاaʿtadnā[We] have prepared
لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelievers
سَعِيرٗاsaʿīrana Blazing Fire
TRANSLATION

And whoever has not believed in Allah and His Messenger - then indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers a Blaze

|||
13

وَلِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ يَغۡفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورٗا رَّحِيمٗا

Walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi yaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibu man yashao wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

WORD BY WORD
وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
مُلۡكُmul'ku(is the) kingdom
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚwal-arḍiand the earth
يَغۡفِرُyaghfiruHe forgives
لِمَنlimanwhom
يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
وَيُعَذِّبُwayuʿadhibuand punishes
مَنmanwhom
يَشَآءُۚyashāuHe wills
وَكَانَwakānaAnd is
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
غَفُورٗاghafūranOft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٗاraḥīmanMost Merciful
TRANSLATION

And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful

|||
14

سَيَقُولُ ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَ إِذَا ٱنطَلَقۡتُمۡ إِلَىٰ مَغَانِمَ لِتَأۡخُذُوهَا ذَرُونَا نَتَّبِعۡكُمۡۖ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُبَدِّلُواْ كَلَٰمَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُل لَّن تَتَّبِعُونَا كَذَٰلِكُمۡ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ مِن قَبۡلُۖ فَسَيَقُولُونَ بَلۡ تَحۡسُدُونَنَاۚ بَلۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَفۡقَهُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا

Sayaqoolu almukhallafoona itha intalaqtum ila maghanima litakhuthooha tharoona nattabiAAkum yureedoona an yubaddiloo kalama Allahi qul lan tattabiAAoona kathalikum qala Allahu min qablu fasayaqooloona bal tahsudoonana bal kanoo la yafqahoona illa qaleelan

WORD BY WORD
سَيَقُولُsayaqūluWill say
ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَl-mukhalafūnathose who remained behind
إِذَاidhāwhen
ٱنطَلَقۡتُمۡinṭalaqtumyou set forth
إِلَىٰilātowards
مَغَانِمَmaghānima(the) spoils of war
لِتَأۡخُذُوهَاlitakhudhūhāto take it
ذَرُونَاdharūnāAllow us
نَتَّبِعۡكُمۡۖnattabiʿ'kum(to) follow you
يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnaThey wish
أَنanto
يُبَدِّلُواْyubaddilūchange
كَلَٰمَkalāma(the) Words
ٱللَّهِۚl-lahi(of) Allah
قُلqulSay
لَّنlanNever
تَتَّبِعُونَاtattabiʿūnāwill you follow us
كَذَٰلِكُمۡkadhālikumThus
قَالَqālaAllah said
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah said
مِنminbefore
قَبۡلُۖqablubefore
فَسَيَقُولُونَfasayaqūlūnaThen they will say
بَلۡbalNay
تَحۡسُدُونَنَاۚtaḥsudūnanāyou envy us
بَلۡbalNay
كَانُواْkānūthey were
لَاnot
يَفۡقَهُونَyafqahūnaunderstanding
إِلَّاillāexcept
قَلِيلٗاqalīlana little
TRANSLATION

Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allah. Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact] they were not understanding except a little

|||
15

قُل لِّلۡمُخَلَّفِينَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ سَتُدۡعَوۡنَ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمٍ أُوْلِي بَأۡسٖ شَدِيدٖ تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمۡ أَوۡ يُسۡلِمُونَۖ فَإِن تُطِيعُواْ يُؤۡتِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَجۡرًا حَسَنٗاۖ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوۡاْ كَمَا تَوَلَّيۡتُم مِّن قَبۡلُ يُعَذِّبۡكُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا

Qul lilmukhallafeena mina alaAArabi satudAAawna ila qawmin olee basin shadeedin tuqatiloonahum aw yuslimoona fain tuteeAAoo yutikumu Allahu ajran hasanan wain tatawallaw kama tawallaytum min qablu yuAAaththibkum AAathaban aleeman

قُلqulSay
لِّلۡمُخَلَّفِينَlil'mukhallafīnato those who remained behind
مِنَminaof
ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِl-aʿrābithe Bedouins
سَتُدۡعَوۡنَsatud'ʿawnaYou will be called
إِلَىٰilāto
قَوۡمٍqawmina people
أُوْلِيulīpossessors of military might
بَأۡسٖbasinpossessors of military might
شَدِيدٖshadīdingreat
تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمۡtuqātilūnahumyou will fight them
أَوۡawor
يُسۡلِمُونَۖyus'limūnathey will submit
فَإِنfa-inThen if
تُطِيعُواْtuṭīʿūyou obey
يُؤۡتِكُمُyu'tikumuAllah will give you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah will give you
أَجۡرًاajrana reward
حَسَنٗاۖḥasanangood
وَإِنwa-inbut if
تَتَوَلَّوۡاْtatawallawyou turn away
كَمَاkamāas
تَوَلَّيۡتُمtawallaytumyou turned away
مِّنminbefore
قَبۡلُqablubefore
يُعَذِّبۡكُمۡyuʿadhib'kumHe will punish you
عَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishment
أَلِيمٗاalīmanpainful
TRANSLATION

Say to those who remained behind of the bedouins, "You will be called to [face] a people of great military might; you may fight them, or they will submit. So if you obey, Allah will give you a good reward; but if you turn away as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment

16

لَّيۡسَ عَلَى ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ حَرَجٞ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَعۡرَجِ حَرَجٞ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلۡمَرِيضِ حَرَجٞۗ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدۡخِلۡهُ جَنَّـٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبۡهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا

Laysa AAala alaAAma harajun wala AAala alaAAraji harajun wala AAala almareedi harajun waman yutiAAi Allaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu waman yatawalla yuAAaththibhu AAathaban aleeman

WORD BY WORD
لَّيۡسَlaysaNot is
عَلَىʿalāupon
ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰl-aʿmāthe blind
حَرَجٞḥarajunany blame
وَلَاwalāand not
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلۡأَعۡرَجِl-aʿrajithe lame
حَرَجٞḥarajunany blame
وَلَاwalāand not
عَلَىʿalāon
ٱلۡمَرِيضِl-marīḍithe sick
حَرَجٞۗḥarajunany blame
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
يُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeys
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His Messenger
يُدۡخِلۡهُyud'khil'huHe will admit him
جَنَّـٰتٖjannātin(to) Gardens
تَجۡرِيtajrīflow
مِنminfrom
تَحۡتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath them
ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖl-anhāruthe rivers
وَمَنwamanbut whoever
يَتَوَلَّyatawallaturns away
يُعَذِّبۡهُyuʿadhib'huHe will punish him
عَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishment
أَلِيمٗاalīmanpainful
TRANSLATION

There is not upon the blind any guilt or upon the lame any guilt or upon the ill any guilt [for remaining behind]. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger - He will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow; but whoever turns away - He will punish him with a painful punishment

17

۞لَّقَدۡ رَضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ إِذۡ يُبَايِعُونَكَ تَحۡتَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَأَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَأَثَٰبَهُمۡ فَتۡحٗا قَرِيبٗا

Laqad radiya Allahu AAani almumineena ith yubayiAAoonaka tahta alshshajarati faAAalima ma fee quloobihim faanzala alsakeenata AAalayhim waathabahum fathan qareeban

WORD BY WORD
۞لَّقَدۡlaqadCertainly
رَضِيَraḍiyaAllah was pleased
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah was pleased
عَنِʿaniwith
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
إِذۡidhwhen
يُبَايِعُونَكَyubāyiʿūnakathey pledged allegiance to you
تَحۡتَtaḥtaunder
ٱلشَّجَرَةِl-shajaratithe tree
فَعَلِمَfaʿalimaand He knew
مَاwhat
فِي(was) in
قُلُوبِهِمۡqulūbihimtheir hearts
فَأَنزَلَfa-anzalaso He sent down
ٱلسَّكِينَةَl-sakīnatathe tranquility
عَلَيۡهِمۡʿalayhimupon them
وَأَثَٰبَهُمۡwa-athābahumand rewarded them
فَتۡحٗاfatḥan(with) a victory
قَرِيبٗاqarībannear
TRANSLATION

Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest

|||
18

وَمَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةٗ يَأۡخُذُونَهَاۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمٗا

Wamaghanima katheeratan yakhuthoonaha wakana Allahu AAazeezan hakeeman

WORD BY WORD
وَمَغَانِمَwamaghānimaAnd spoils of war
كَثِيرَةٗkathīratanmuch
يَأۡخُذُونَهَاۗyakhudhūnahāthat they will take
وَكَانَwakānaand is
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
عَزِيزًاʿazīzanAll-Mighty
حَكِيمٗاḥakīmanAll-Wise
TRANSLATION

And much war booty which they will take. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise

|||
19

وَعَدَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةٗ تَأۡخُذُونَهَا فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمۡ هَٰذِهِۦ وَكَفَّ أَيۡدِيَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنكُمۡ وَلِتَكُونَ ءَايَةٗ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَيَهۡدِيَكُمۡ صِرَٰطٗا مُّسۡتَقِيمٗا

WaAAadakumu Allahu maghanima katheeratan takhuthoonaha faAAajjala lakum hathihi wakaffa aydiya alnnasi AAankum walitakoona ayatan lilmumineena wayahdiyakum siratan mustaqeeman

WORD BY WORD
وَعَدَكُمُwaʿadakumuAllah has promised you
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has promised you
مَغَانِمَmaghānimaspoils of war
كَثِيرَةٗkathīratanmuch
تَأۡخُذُونَهَاtakhudhūnahāthat you will take it
فَعَجَّلَfaʿajjalaand He has hastened
لَكُمۡlakumfor you
هَٰذِهِۦhādhihithis
وَكَفَّwakaffaand has withheld
أَيۡدِيَaydiya(the) hands
ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the people
عَنكُمۡʿankumfrom you
وَلِتَكُونَwalitakūnathat it may be
ءَايَةٗāyatana sign
لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
وَيَهۡدِيَكُمۡwayahdiyakumand He may guide you
صِرَٰطٗاṣirāṭan(to the) Path
مُّسۡتَقِيمٗاmus'taqīmanStraight
TRANSLATION

Allah has promised you much booty that you will take [in the future] and has hastened for you this [victory] and withheld the hands of people from you - that it may be a sign for the believers and [that] He may guide you to a straight path
