79 : 1

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقٗا

WaalnnaziAAati gharqan

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَٰتِwal-nāziʿātiBy those who extract
غَرۡقٗاgharqanviolently
TRANSLATION

By those [angels] who extract with violence

|||
79 : 2

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطٗا

Waalnnashitati nashtan

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَٰتِwal-nāshiṭātiAnd those who draw out
نَشۡطٗاnashṭangently
TRANSLATION

And [by] those who remove with ease

|||
79 : 3

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحٗا

Waalssabihati sabhan

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَٰتِwal-sābiḥātiAnd those who glide
سَبۡحٗاsabḥanswimming
TRANSLATION

And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming

|||
79 : 4

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقٗا

Faalssabiqati sabqan

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَٰتِfal-sābiqātiAnd those who race each other
سَبۡقٗاsabqan(in) a race
TRANSLATION

And those who race each other in a race

|||
79 : 5

فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرٗا

Faalmudabbirati amran

فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِfal-mudabirātiAnd those who arrange
أَمۡرٗاamran(the) matter
TRANSLATION

And those who arrange [each] matter

|||
79 : 6

يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

Yawma tarjufu alrrajifatu

يَوۡمَyawma(The) Day
تَرۡجُفُtarjufuwill quake
ٱلرَّاجِفَةُl-rājifatuthe quaking one
TRANSLATION

On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation]

|||
79 : 7

تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

TatbaAAuha alrradifatu

تَتۡبَعُهَاtatbaʿuhāFollows it
ٱلرَّادِفَةُl-rādifatuthe subsequent
TRANSLATION

There will follow it the subsequent [one]

|||
79 : 8

قُلُوبٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاجِفَةٌ

Quloobun yawmaithin wajifatun

قُلُوبٞqulūbunHearts
يَوۡمَئِذٖyawma-idhinthat Day
وَاجِفَةٌwājifatunwill palpitate
TRANSLATION

Hearts, that Day, will tremble

|||
79 : 9

أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٞ

Absaruha khashiAAatun

أَبۡصَٰرُهَاabṣāruhāTheir eyes
خَٰشِعَةٞkhāshiʿatunhumbled
TRANSLATION

Their eyes humbled

|||
79 : 10

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ

Yaqooloona ainna lamardoodoona fee alhafirati

يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey say
أَءِنَّاa-innāWill we
لَمَرۡدُودُونَlamardūdūnaindeed be returned
فِيto
ٱلۡحَافِرَةِl-ḥāfiratithe former state
TRANSLATION

They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]

|||
79 : 11

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا نَّخِرَةٗ

Aitha kunna AAithaman nakhiratan

أَءِذَاa-idhāWhat! When
كُنَّاkunnāwe are
عِظَٰمٗاʿiẓāmanbones
نَّخِرَةٗnakhiratandecayed
TRANSLATION

Even if we should be decayed bones

|||
79 : 12

قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذٗا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٞ

Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasiratun

قَالُواْqālūThey say
تِلۡكَtil'kaThis
إِذٗاidhanthen
كَرَّةٌkarratun(would be) a return
خَاسِرَةٞkhāsiratunlosing
TRANSLATION

They say, "That, then, would be a losing return

|||
79 : 13

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ

Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun

فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāThen only
هِيَhiyait
زَجۡرَةٞzajratun(will be) a shout
وَٰحِدَةٞwāḥidatunsingle
TRANSLATION

Indeed, it will be but one shout

|||
79 : 14

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

Faitha hum bialssahirati

فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd behold
هُمhumThey
بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِbil-sāhirati(will be) awakened
TRANSLATION

And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface

|||
79 : 15

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ

Hal ataka hadeethu moosa

هَلۡhalHas
أَتَىٰكَatāka(there) come to you
حَدِيثُḥadīthu(the) story
مُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musa
TRANSLATION

Has there reached you the story of Moses

|||
79 : 16

إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

Ith nadahu rabbuhu bialwadi almuqaddasi tuwan

إِذۡidhWhen
نَادَىٰهُnādāhucalled him
رَبُّهُۥrabbuhuhis Lord
بِٱلۡوَادِbil-wādiin the valley
ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِl-muqadasithe sacred
طُوًىṭuwan(of) Tuwa
TRANSLATION

When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa

|||
79 : 17

ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha

ٱذۡهَبۡidh'habGo
إِلَىٰilāto
فِرۡعَوۡنَfir'ʿawnaFiraun
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
طَغَىٰṭaghā(has) transgressed
TRANSLATION

Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed

|||
79 : 18

فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka

فَقُلۡfaqulAnd say
هَلhalWould
لَّكَlaka[for] you
إِلَىٰٓilā[to]
أَنan[that]
تَزَكَّىٰtazakkāpurify yourself
TRANSLATION

And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself

|||
79 : 19

وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ

Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha

وَأَهۡدِيَكَwa-ahdiyakaAnd I will guide you
إِلَىٰilāto
رَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
فَتَخۡشَىٰfatakhshāso you would fear
TRANSLATION

And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]

|||
79 : 20

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

Faarahu alayata alkubra

فَأَرَىٰهُfa-arāhuThen he showed him
ٱلۡأٓيَةَl-āyatathe sign
ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰl-kub'rāthe great
TRANSLATION

And he showed him the greatest sign

|||
